If you are considering reading this book and aren’t really sure because the synopsis is kind of odd, do yourself a favor and read the book. The synopsis does not do this book justice. Like at all. This book was phenomenal, and after I finished it I quickly bought and finished the rest of the series. In one night, with work early the next day. I could not put it down. I kept telling myself to be realistic and go to sleep, there’s no way you can finish all five books in one night. But I literally have no self-control because after each book I finished I immediately went and bought the next. The plot was the real draw for this book. The story switches between the POV of Lana, a serial killer, and Logan, an FBI criminal profiler, as their relationship develops. It was so good, and I’m in rare pairing hell now. This book has created an addiction to serial killer/law enforcement romance, and there is literally no other book like it that I can find. S.T. Abby (a penname for C.M. Owens) knows how to deliver a great plot twist. Sometimes with plots like this I feel like there are some real missed opportunities, but for once there’s nothing that I would change about this story. It was fast-paced and intense, and while there are some events that you can see coming, the majority of the reveals were shocking. There was also a perfect balance of information about criminology and profiling throughout the novel. Just enough to make it interesting and realistic, but not so much that I felt like I was reading from a textbook. The characters themselves were also remarkable. Both Lana and Logan are hilarious and intelligent, and rather than griping at them for being stupid or irrational (something that happens frequently for me), I often found myself impressed by their personalities and actions. Lana was an amazing heroine. Smart, funny, very take-charge, and completely in control of her life and actions. She spoke her mind and expressed herself without being overbearing or rude, a line that often gets crossed in an author’s attempt not to let their female heroine be a doormat. Logan was another great character. Respectful of Lana and her boundaries, not an irritating womanizer who’s slept with every woman ever, and honestly just a generally great guy. They fit really well together, and I loved watching their relationship develop. The side characters in this novel were also fantastic. They were well-rounded and had meaningful interactions outside of just advancing the main relationship, so while this book is classified under the romance genre, there’s so much that happens outside of the main relationship that I hate seeing it under such a narrow classification. The characters in this novel felt real to me, not like one-dimensional tools to further the plot. This book does end on a cliff-hanger, but all of the novels in this series have been released so I don’t see it as an issue.I honestly could go on and on about this book. I wish it would be released in print because I would buy it immediately. There was such a good balance of story-telling elements in this novel. There’s a fine line to walk between romance, characters, plot, and world-building, but S.T. Abby did an outstanding job with it. The Risk is the first installment of the Mindf*ck series by S.T. Abby.(This is a DARK read with descriptive flashbacks which can cause triggers of ignored consent!)I have not read a book by this author before, but I have to say I am hooked. Our heroine is not the angel. She's taking the law in her own hands while waiting to strike the names off her list... Her very long list. It's a bone-chilling, devious and utterly compelling story being told. For the lines between right and wrong start to blur. Especially when our heroine allows herself to fall in love with an FBI agent who's currently chasing her down... He just doesn't know it yet. Will she be able to finish her list or will those who did wrong go unpunished?WOW. This was...mind consuming. I couldn't stop reading for I am invested in seeing if love can truly prevail through this relationship. At first, I didn't care so much for Logan because he was so apologetic for his work, but I was quickly singing a different tune. Now I love him, mainly because of the intelligence foreplay between our main characters as they profile each other. Both of them are into criminal justice, but only one of them is on the right side of the law. And the other... Let's just say, she's spreading her own justice. If you enjoy dark reads on the lines of cat and mouse, this might be the book for you. Just know, this series is in five installments.Tempting Sexy Thoughts Read Online The Risk (Mindf*ck Series #1) Download The Risk (Mindf*ck Series #1) The Risk (Mindf*ck Series #1) PDF The Risk (Mindf*ck Series #1) Mobi Free Reading The Risk (Mindf*ck Series #1) Download Free Pdf The Risk (Mindf*ck Series #1) PDF Online The Risk (Mindf*ck Series #1) Mobi Online The Risk (Mindf*ck Series #1) Reading Online The Risk (Mindf*ck Series #1) Read Online S.T.
